Swimming is definitely not built for the aqua phobic. However, if you love the water, it’s a sport you must not miss out. Apart from the fact that it passes away time and helps you relax, swimming also helps you exercise and stay fit. It can also help you lose weight. It can help you slip into that little black dress you’ve always wanted or on that pair of jeans you’ve longed for.

Here a few tips and reasons to make swimming work on your weight and exercise.

Consider your physical condition.

Unlike other sports, swimming welcomes anybody with limited physical conditions. People with disabilities can still perform swimming. Having joint problems such as arthritis also does not limit you from doing swimming as well as being overweight. Swimming has been proven to benefit people with these kinds of conditions. However, if you have heart problems, consult your physician before engaging in swimming as your form of exercise so that he can give you the do’s and don’ts and to monitor your heart rate.

Always do the warm-ups.

As important as with any other exercise, swimming requires you to perform warm-ups. In this way, injury can be avoided and to condition your body prior to swimming. Start with stretching your arms and legs and down to your waist by leaning backward and bending forward. Then work on stretching the muscles of your central body. After having your body warmed up, do the leg kicks in the pool. Prior to swimming, avoid eating huge meals to avoid cramps.

Equip yourself.

Before you start with your swimming it’s very important to have the basic equipment such as a comfortable swimsuit, swimming goggles and swim cap to protect your hair from the constant exposure to the pool’s chlorine. As you progress with your swimming, certain equipments can help you develop and tone muscles. Kickboards and fins can help strengthen your leg muscles and your lower body while hand paddles and pull-buoy works on your arm and shoulder muscles and the rest of your upper body. Flotation belts also help you work on your heart rate through aqua jogging.

You sow what you reap.

Yes, with swimming you’ll surely be getting the benefits as long as you practice it. Be sure that while swimming you don’t work on only one stroke. Use the different strokes such as backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, sidestroke, doggy paddle and butterfly, and don’t forget to alternate. This would work at all the different major muscles in the body from your arms, legs, shoulders, back, and abdominal muscles. Constant movement in the water also burns calories. So keep moving. However, if you need to rest get a drink of water. Then go back to your routine.

You are what you eat.

It has been studied that swimming in cool temperature increases your appetite in comparison to land exercises. So it’s very important to watch your meals after swimming. Be careful that you don’t overeat after you swim and watch those calories. A swimming routine exercise won’t be as beneficial if you won’t watch on your diet.

Consistency translates to success.

Apart from watching what you eat, swimming just like any other sports does not show its effects overnight. You have to be consistent with your swimming. Work on it three times a week then increase if you have to. With this, you can constantly burn those calories and build those body muscles.

Once you’ve adapted these, in no time you will be having the toned body that you’ve always been longing for. Swimming in comparison to other sports works on all the major body muscles without the strenuous impact required with other sports. It gives you the cardiovascular benefits while strengthening on your muscles and working on your flexibility. So if you’re looking for the most relaxing way to be trim and slim, go for a swim.

Baseball is a highly enjoyable and exciting game. However, when you are among the players in the field, it can be such pressure. Playing a game of baseball exercises and works you out both physically and mentally. After all, many great baseball players would agree, this sport is as much of a mental one as it is physical. This is also why preparation of the mind and of the body is essential to a successful game and plays a big role in your winning it.

Here are some tips for amateur baseball players for them to hit the home run and win the game.

1. Know and understand the rules of the game and the terms used. This should already be a must and a given. There’s no point joining a team and playing the game if you don’t know and understand the rules as well as the terms used. Remember that players don’t just play it, but they also communicate strategies with their team, which process employs the various baseball terms. However, more than this, players should be familiar with baseball situations and should know what to do in each one.

2. Know your opponents. As a team, review any available scouting reports so you know more about the other team’s various strengths and weaknesses. Be familiar with each opposing player’s pitch selection, playing style, playing patterns, as well as tendencies. If you are a pitcher, use any information you have in order to plan out your pitching strategies for each of the opposing team’s hitters. Or, if you are an infielder or an outfielder, use whatever you know about your opposing team in order to determine how you can best position yourself with every hitter in the field. You should also know which opposing players you need to watch out for and play with aggressively.

3. Play attention to the players’ turns. In other words, pay attention to who goes first and who goes next. More importantly, know your fellow team players’ different strong and weak points. This is in order for you to be able to adjust your own game tactics according to the playing styles of those you are playing closely with.

4. Think positive and adopt a winning attitude toward the game. Start the game by conditioning your mind on winning it. Couple this optimistic attitude with having the right amount of focus on your manager’s or coach’s strategies. Visualizing techniques that work will also help you actually execute them! Remember that whatever attitude you adopt when playing, it affects your motivation and drive to hit the home run, and it ultimately influences your body to act upon what you have set your mind into.

5. Play fair and clean, and enjoy the game. Play like a true sportsman. Don’t resort to name-calling. Don’t take things personally. When you win, be gracious about your victory. When you lose, don’t be a sore loser and take whatever you did wrong in the game as a lesson in improving the way you play. Most of all, enjoy the game, such that whether you got the trophy or not, you had great fun in the field, and you are proud to the achievement of playing it.

These are but easy and basic tips to playing a successful baseball game, but these can be hard to apply in the field, especially in the midst of a cheering crowd. There are also far more complicated and very specific rules and guidelines to follow, especially for the professional players. The important thing is to just remember that there will be times or situations when you will be required to trust your instincts instead of sticking to everything by the book.
